Abstract:
Experimental studies on solute transport have shown the influence of species specific properties on mechanical dispersion with a nonlinear
dependence on flow velocities, even in advection dominated scenarios. This is contrary to classical linear models where dispersivities act as
proportionality factor. This seminar discusses nonlinear formulations for mechanical dispersion and outlines some consequences for reactive
transport methods based on the assumption of same dispersion for all species. Substance specific dispersion leads to another set of nonlinear
